Ruby

The language that made web development feel human: we maintain and evolve Ruby systems with respect for code that already works.

What it is

Expressive, mature and built to last

Ruby is a language designed to make programmers happy: expressive syntax, consistent object orientation and a strong testing culture. With Rails, it shaped much of what the web understands as productivity, from migrations to conventions that remove repetitive configuration. Many companies built their core product on Ruby, and those codebases are still in production today, running entire operations.

Most of our Ruby work is maintenance and evolution: we take over existing Rails codebases, add tests where they are missing, upgrade dependencies and unblock features that had stalled. For new back-end projects our default is Laravel. We recommend staying on Ruby when the current system runs on it and works, when your team knows the language well, or when a rewrite would cost more than evolving.

Respecting code that already works is judgement, not complacency. A full rewrite freezes the roadmap and trades known bugs for new ones. Before proposing any change we read the code, measure test coverage and understand the history behind the decisions. In most cases, modernizing in stages solves more than starting over, and that is the path we lay out when it makes sense.

What we build with it
  • Maintaining Rails applications in production
  • Upgrading versions and dependencies
  • APIs and integrations on existing codebases
  • Test coverage for legacy code
  • Gradual evolution without full rewrites
