For systems that cannot afford to stop, that predictability is worth more than any novelty.
We do not reach for Java on every project. For most new builds, Laravel gets us to production faster. Java earns its place when the context calls for it: legacy systems that need maintenance or careful evolution, integrations with corporate environments that already speak Java, and services where the JVM's robustness and long-term tooling matter more than initial speed. We pick the tool for the problem, not out of habit.
For the people paying the bill, Java means longevity: code written today tends to keep running for many years, with predictable updates and a platform that takes backward compatibility seriously. It also means market depth: experienced professionals are available, which lowers the risk of being locked to a single vendor.
