One web codebase, both stores
Ionic is a UI framework for building mobile apps with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, powered by Vue, React or Angular underneath. Capacitor handles the bridge to native: camera, notifications, storage and the rest of the device's features become available from web code. The result is a single codebase that ships to both the App Store and Google Play, with a look and feel that respects each platform.
Flutter is our default for mobile, but Ionic comes in when the criteria shift: if the team maintaining the app is a web team, if the product already has a Vue front end, and if the app is made of content, forms and flows, reusing that foundation is usually the shortest path to both stores. For games, heavy animation or intensive on-device processing, we point to another tool.
For the people hiring us, this means an app their own web team can evolve, without assembling a separate native team for iOS and Android. Fixes and new screens ship from a single repository, and much of the code can be shared with the product's web version. Fewer codebases to maintain means fewer points of failure and a more predictable evolution over the years.
